Uber and the Clark County Education Association gave millions to back initiatives related to teacher strike laws and attorney fees. Left-leaning "dark money" groups gave more than $750,000.

Several Republican challengers have made six figure loans to their own campaigns, as they try to catch up to the massive war chests of the Democratic incumbents.

Pharmaceutical companies gave more than $7.5 million to politicians and PACs since 2017. Republicans received more than Democrats, but access to politicians drives spending more than policy agendas.

Rosen's donor base lives in all 50 states and frequently donated to other Democratic senators in swing states. Brown's base is less robust, but experts expected to increase if he becomes the GOP nominee.

Though somewhat overshadowed by the presidential race, Rosen and Nevada’s three House Democrats have continued to raise money at a similar pace to the 2022 election cycle — a record-setting midterm in Nevada for election spending.

One of the biggest fundraising hauls came from Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom, a PAC seeking to enshrine abortion access in the Nevada Constitution via ballot initiative. The group recorded raising $1.8 million, driven primarily by $1 million from Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Think Big America.

Those contributions include a maximum $10,000 donation from the CCEA PAC to Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro (D-Las Vegas) a day after the vote.

Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) raised $3.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2023 and heading into her 2024 re-election bid has $10.6 million in cash on hand — a record for an incumbent senator in Nevada at this point in the election cycle.

The only incumbent to be outraised by an opponent was Rep. Dina Titus, (D-NV) who saw a Republican opponent, Flemming Larsen, loan his campaign $200,000 of his own funds in the third quarter. Titus reported raising just over $122,000 in the quarter.

Across the state’s four congressional districts, Reps. Susie Lee (D-NV) and Steven Horsford (D-NV) led the way in fundraising, bringing in nearly $583,000 and $668,000, respectively.

While not unprecedented, Lombardo’s use of a nonprofit to manage his inaugural ball marks a departure from past practice.

Republican April Becker has filed an election integrity violation report alleging Democratic Clark County Commissioner Ross Miller violated campaign finance law several times.

During the 2022 election cycle, Nevada lawmakers raised a record $13 million through thousands of big-money contributions (those greater than $200) from a variety of groups and entities including unions, real estate developers, major companies and lawyers.

Still, even among smaller categories of donors, such as the mining industry and education groups, politically powerful organizations helped drive six-figure contributions across dozens of campaigns.

Thirty-seven Democratic lawmakers received an average of $11,326, compared with an average of $10,261 for 21 Republican lawmakers.

Direct contributions from outside PACs and political groups also broadly boosted Democratic candidates more than Republicans. At the top of the list, for instance, is the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, the national party’s state legislative campaign arm.

After the 2020 cycle saw cumulative contributions from the gaming industry to Nevada lawmakers nosedive to $769,000 amid plummeting gaming revenues during the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry bounced back in 2022, dishing out more than $1.2 million to 55 legislators. 

Standing alone at the top of the pack, the Nevada Association of Realtors, also known as Nevada REALTORS, gave more money than any other group, contributing more than $432,000 from the association and its multiple political action committees.

With all or nearly all contributions from AFSCME and other major union groups going to legislative Democrats, the 2022 election cycle continued a longstanding trend of union support for the party.

The multi-million dollar growth in fundraising for legislators came amid a competitive election cycle in Nevada with every top office up for grabs.
